more pictures from Skylar's birthday

Home from the hospital

Today we got to come home from the hospital. Skylar loves her room & all of her things & the dogs seem to love her. They are very gentle with her & check on her often. Grandma Booker & Granny are here to help out so we got a picture of the 4 generations. Zach & Jacque brought us a wonderful home cooked meal. Thanks a bunch! It was yummy.

Christmas 2008

We had a nice relaxing day at home. We were hoping the baby would come today but no such luck. At 4:00 we went to our friend Laura & Jose's for dinner. We had a wonderful dinner & enjoyed spending time with their 3 beautiful girls. We had just arrived & I sat down on the couch when their 4 year old Sofia said to me...wow..if your belly gets any bigger you will need to buy new clothes! We all had a good laugh. Merry Christmas!

A gift from Larry

Today Larry surprised me with a Dyson (pet specific) vacuum cleaner!!! I am so happy with it. I just vacuumed yesterday with my cheapy vacuum & you would not beleive all of the dirt we picked up today! The carpet actually looks like it has been steam cleaned. I would suggest it for anyone who has pets.

Dr. Appt. today

I just got back from my check up & all is well with the baby & me. The Dr. said she could come at any time now & it would be safe. Last Friday she did an ultra sound & she is in position & they guessed her weight to be about 7 1/2 lbs...so far! I still have carpal tunnel & last week my sciatic nerve started bugging me. It takes me forever to get up or walk around. Every night Larry thinks I am in labor because I scream when I get up to pee. If I do not have Skylar by my due date they will induce labor on Saturday January 10th. Larry will get to be there for the birth & then he will have to hit the road for Kansas. Larry's Mom & Granny will come stay with me for a week & then my Mom will come for a week. It will be great to have help. Today my Dr told me how funny Larry was when he comes to my appts. She said she would love for me to have the baby on Christmas since she works that night & they will have a big buffet of food that Larry could enjoy & he can keep them entertained. She worked last Christmas & delivered 20 babies! One of the nurses made big stockings & they put all of the babies in stockings to take their pictures. How cute! I asked the Dr if they would make fun of Larry if he passed out & she said yes! Then she told me that today a husband came in with the wife & watched her get a regular exam & passed out & hit his head & had to go to the ER (he was fine) ...she said the staff laughed about it all day!

Our rental house in Kansas

Here is a picture of the house we will be renting in Kansas. Larry has to move in by January 14th to start school. I will move about a month after him. Once we sell our house here in VA & move to Kansas & get unpacked...it should be a fun new adventure.

Bataan Christmas Party

Last night was Larry's company Christmas Party. It was a lot of fun.It was in Portsmouth, right next to the hospital. No luck...the baby didn't come last night. I am so ready now since she is sitting on my sciatic nerve & I can hardly walk. Larry kept walking ahead of me last night because he said it was physically impossible to walk as slow as me. Everyone was very nice to me last night but...I'm sure you Mom's will agree with me that there is nothing more irritating then perfect strangers coming up & touching your belly!!!! Why do people think that's ok? I feel like a cow at the petting zoo. Well I need to go get ready for my Dr's appt. Larry is off today so he gets to go with me...hopefully he will behave himself.

Gift from Grandma and Grandpa

Skylar's Grandma & Grandpa in Tennessee (Chris's parents) just got Skylar a Summer Infant 7" Color Flat Baby Monitor (from Target) Larry & I tested it out yesterday & it is awesome! The tv screen is really big & it is very user friendly. Grandma is coming to help us out when Larry moves to Kansas to start school. Thanks Grandma!

Making changes

Well it's been a busy couple of weeks. We found a house to rent in Kansas & after debating about renting or selling our house here in Virginia, we decided to sell. The agent just came over to take pictures & to put up the for sale sign. He also made a short list of fix ups we need to do right away. With me being 8 months pregnant & Larry working long hours...it is tough to get it all done. I am definately not too happy about having a bunch of strangers walking through my house when I have a new baby. Hopefully the house will sell quick & I will be able to relax. Here are some pictures(of Larry, Bill, Adam, Douglas, & Megan) from Thanksgiving weekend at the beach. I was the photographer. Enjoy!

Skylar's closet

I just thought everyone would like to see Skylar's closet. This is only half of her clothing!!!! The stuff that won't fit her right away is in storage. We are very lucky that our friends & family got her so many nice things. Pretty soon Larry is going to lose his closet space since he is out numbered!

Thanksgiving pictures

Thanksgiving weekend

We had a big crowd for Thanksgiving & dinner was great. We are enjoying our weekend with Larry's family from NJ. Last night we went to a hockey game. Our team lost but it was still an exciting game. Here is a picture of Larry & I. Skylar moved around the entire time we were at the game. I didn't get a chance to take any pictures on Thanksgiving but I will try to get some from friends & post them soon.

Skylar's crib

Skylar's Grandma Booker (Larry's Mom) bought her a beautiful crib that turns into a bed when she gets older. We just love it! Incase you want to see it you can go to the website forevercocoon.com & look at the Cocoon 1000 series in the paprika color. Thanks so much Grandma!!!

Great product to try

As most of you know we have 2 large dogs & I am a germaphobe! I have a great steam cleaner & I have pretreated w/ so many products but the carpet stains always resurface...until now! I found something I was so happy with that I had to let everyone know about it. Everytime the sun shines into my house I see these crop circles on my carpet...pee stains from my lab's younger days! I also had some spots w/ heavy foot traffic & coffee stains (thank you Larry!) I tried a product at Home Depot called Capture (in a purple & white box) It includes a pre-treatment spray, a powder & a scrub brush. The product sits for 1/2 hour & then vacuum. There is no odor & it is safe to use around kids & dogs. It has been several weeks now & the crop circles have not resurfaced! It is amazing. So if you have a pet or a messy husband give it a try.

30 week update

I had another check up yesterday & all is well with baby Skylar. I have been going to the Naval hospital for my prenatal care & I usually see a different Dr/midwife each week. Yesterday I had a great Dr & she told me I will be seeing her for the rest of my pregnancy! I am very happy since I liked her a lot. I am only 10 weeks away from my due date!!! I am pre registered at the hospital & yesterday I got my stork parking pass, so now I get front row parking at the hospital! This is great since I usually have to park on the 4th deck in the last row! At least I get my exercise. Tomorrow Larry will leave again for a month, but he will be back all of December & January so he won't miss the birth. I am really happy about this since I wouldn't want anybody else to see my crying & yelling in the delivery room!!!

Gifts from MeMom

Today Skylar got a package from MeMom (Chris' grandmother) She got all kinds of cute goodies! Thanks MeMom!!!

29 weeks pregnant

Today Larry took a couple of pictures of me in the baby's room. It's very hard to take a picture without my lab Sierra! She loves the camera!!! It is still a little empty in the baby's room, but the furniture is coming! My Mother in law ordered us a beautiful crib & Granny ordered us a bassinet! They will bring them at Thanksgiving. I can't wait!!!!

Changes

So this weekend I will be 27 weeks pregnant & I am ready for this baby to come out!!! I get up about 10 times in the night with a full bladder, have swollen ankles & wrists, but the worst thing happened yesterday...I had a really hard time painting my toe nails! Larry was very nice & said why don't you start going to get pedicures. I called my sister Cindy to tell her about all of my new aches & pains & she laughed & said there are so many more to come!!! I must say the one good thing is that you can wear what ever you want & you don't have to walk around sucking in your stomach because it is actually supposed to stick out! This weekend we are going to my boss's wedding in The Outer Banks, NC. My boss (Rio) showed me the seating chart yesterday & said "Look...I sat you right next to the bar!" & then she remembered I couldn't drink!!! Larry also forgets I can't drink sometimes & then he says to me...thanks for carrying our baby because he doesn't think he could handle it! If he were carrying the baby he would be in bed all day!!!

Childbirth Class

Today we had a 6 1/2 hour childbirth class. The teacher was great & we learned a lot. We also took a tour of labor & delivery. The rooms are really nice & 94% of the time you will get your own room. If they have tons of women give birth at the same time then I will have to share a room. I hope that doesn't happen since I don't want anyone to hear me cry!!! The hospital delivers about 350 babies a month!!! We are really happy with the hospital. There were tons of couples in our class today & all the men cringed when we had to watch the birth movie. We had to watch a bunch of videos today & when ever we did they would turn out the lights. About 5 hours into the class we watched a video & when the lights went back on Larry was asleep! but so were half of the other men. The teacher/midwife said that if the men try to sleep in the delivery room they will wake them up!!! We had about 50 couples in our class & at the beginning the teacher asked how many wanted a natural childbirth & 3 girls raised their hands...by the end of class they were asking questions about pain medication! I am all for the pain meds!

Dr. Appt. today

Today I had a regular checkup & also my 26 week lab work (glucose testing) I am doing fine & so is the baby. Her heart beat was at 155 today. Larry & I have our labor/delivery/hospital tour all day class tomorrow. I can't wait! I have rescheduled 3 times because of his out to sea schedule. We are still trying to schedule other classes & a 3D/4D ultrasound! Hopefully we can find time before the baby comes!!! Larry will definately be around for that! Today when I was heading to my Dr's appt. I saw a lady in labor...she had 2 people holding her hands & she was crying. I felt so bad for her...& a little scared for myself! Another pregnant lady said.."Suck it up...it doesn't hurt that bad!" I wanted to give her a piece of my mind!!! I am very sensitive lately!!! I will write more tomorrow after our class.

25 week ultra sound pictures

I know these pictures are blurry & hard to figure out but I thought I would post them anyway. The top one shows her hand on her face next to her ear. She's bending over...her spine is to the right & her legs are straight out under her & the bottom one is a closeup of her face. Click on the pictures for a close up.

Ultra Sound

This morning I had another ultra sound. Everything went well. The Dr. said she is growing beautifully, & is in the 90th percentile. She weighs 1.3 lbs!!! Once again she had her long legs straight over her head. She didn't get long legs from me or Larry!!! They told me I have a gymnist in the making! She also had her hand against her cheek with her thumb sticking up next to her ear, so the nurse typed diamond earrings go here on her picture! It came out really blurry but I still might post it later. One last thing...her butt is sitting right on my bladder!!! How rude! No wonder I make so many trips to the bathroom.

Baby movements

For about the past week & a half I have been feeling the baby move (flutters) Today was the 1st time I felt her have hiccups! Larry has a habit of hitting the snooze button at least 10 times in the morning & when the alarm went off today she moved around & had hiccups! Larry's ship will be leaving AGAIN tomorrow for about 9 days. Tomorrow morning I will go for another ultra sound. I will post pictures afterwards.

Virginia Beach with the dogs

After Labor Day the dogs are allowed back on the beach. It was a beautiful 75 degrees today & Larry said the water was nice! The waves were huge! We can't keep Sierra out of the water...she dives under & rides the waves in. Taz doesn't like the waves so he watched from the beach. After their swim we walked on the boardwalk & listened to a band for a bit. This is the best time of the year to go to the beach to avoid the crowds!

We picked a name!!!

Our future baby girl finally has a name! Larry & I have been round & round w/ names lately. We have looked at baby name websites, baby name books, & even tv shows & movies. Larry was just away on the ship for the week & mentioned to his friend Jamie that we still didn't pick a name & she thought of a name that Larry liked. When Larry got home he told me about the name & I showed him my most recent list of baby names & it was on the list. We are happy to announce the name of our baby is............................. SKYLAR RAE BEHR

Thanks for your help Jamie!

Making room for baby

I am keeping busy with home projects. Larry's ship had to go help with the hurricane & since there are 3 more hurricanes out there it could be awhile before he comes home. Before he left he moved a lot of furniture for me & emptied out the office so we could turn it into our baby's room! I am going to decorate it in light pink & chocolate brown. I got a few decorations already & I plan to look for curtains & an area rug over the weekend. I'm having fun so far...& I am so glad it's a girl!

Baby Classes

Hi everyone. We had our 1st baby class the other day. It was called Budgeting For Baby. We pretty much knew everything the teacher told us but, we only had to take an hour long class & we got Baby's 1st Sea Bag. It was filled w/ $100 worth of cool baby stuff! Here's the picture. We signed up for 2 other classes but I need to cancel since Larry's ship will be leaving to go help w/ the hurricane. I am not sure when he will be back, so we will reschedule classes for later. We have started cleaning out the office to make it the baby's room. (although she will probably never sleep in it since we will be moving shortly after she is born) It looks like we could be moving to California. We are very excited! It is a great deal for Larry & a fun place to live. I will keep you all posted when we get orders.

Back from vacation

We just got back from a week long vacation/Family reunion in Myrtle Beach. We had a great time! It was so nice to see the family (there were 22 of us!) I also had my 1st baby shower!!! It was a total surprise...Larry knew about it & kept quiet. I got a lot of adorable girly baby gifts!!! Here are a few pictures from our trip. I will include more later.
