Disney on Ice

Yesterday I took Skylar to see Disney on Ice's Dare to Dream. We went w/ a group of friends. Skylar loved it. She was doing a countdown all week. The night before the show she said "I go to bed...I wake up..I go to princess show!" I loved watching her dance & squeal the entire time. Her favorite part of the show was Rapunzel.

updates on my big girl

Skylar is growing up too fast. A couple months ago she had her 1st Dental appt. We took her to Kool Smiles (a pediatric dentist) They had a play area w/ a slide in the waiting room. When the hygienist took her back she jumped up in the chair & said "I'm ready!" Her teeth looked great. They gave her a toothbrush & let her pick something from the treasure chest & she's been asking to go back to the "tooth Dr" every day since! My little buddy is so helpful. She helps w/ the laundry, dishes, vacuuming, cleaning, etc. Lately she looks into my eyes & says "Mommy you're my best friend" & then when Larry gets home from work she says "Daddy you're my best friend" She is obsessed w/ questions about her body parts. She told us she can't wait to get big so she can have big boo boos. When we make her mad she says "Don't start w/ me!" oops...I think she got that from me. She still loves the Little Gym & is able to hang upside down from the rings & brings her feet up to her hands. We went to a BBQ a few weeks ago & she actually jumped off the diving board in a 10 ft pool! She's our little dare devil. Her favorite things right now are: trains, school buses, dump trucks, puzzles, & she loves to skype.

Cooking spaghetti

Last Sunday Skylar & Larry made spaghetti sauce together. They had a great time in the kitchen.

Convention Center

Last weekend we got to go to the Convention Center in Virginia Beach. One of the helos from Larry's squadron was being flown in & was put on display for a huge Aviation Ball that evening. Skylar had a great time. She got to watch the helo land & got to sit inside of it.

When I get big

Helo fly over

Last week Larry flew his helo over the house. Skylar was so excited. She kept yelling "That's my Daddy" & she cried when he flew away. She tells us all the time that she wants to fly helicopters when she gets big.

Allergies

Recently Skylar had 2 allergic reactions after going out to eat. Her Dr sent us to the allergist where Skylar had a skin test that confirmed her wheat allergy. She turned red instantly. The Dr told us how careful we need to be & that if we go out to eat we need to bring Sky her own food. Even if you order something as simple as french fries they are most likely cooked in the same oil as the fried foods on the menu. We are hoping she will outgrow this allergy by the age of 5. We also found out she is allergic to mosquito bites. The Dr said there is nothing we can do for that. This is a picture of what she looks like after getting bit by a mosquito. She is on Claritin during mosquito season & if she gets bit we give her Benadryl. If the bite doesn't heal she will need to see a Dr for antibiotics. So far we haven't had to do that.

Lighthouses on the beach

A few weeks ago we asked Skylar what she wanted to do for fun. She asked if we could visit a lighthouse. Luckily there are 2 lighthouses on the Fort Story Army Base in Virginia Beach. We had such a fun time. Skylar enjoyed walking on the beach & collecting sea shells....which she calls snails!

her 1st bike

After months of asking we finally got Skylar her very own bike. It's really nice. It has a a steering handle for the parents to hold on to which can be removed later. Skylar loves her new bike so much.

Another TN visit

The last week in August was a strange one. At the beginning of the week we had an earthquake. We felt it, but didn't have any damage. The earthquake was felt from NC all the way up the east coast. It actually did some damage to the Washington Monument. By the end of the week there was a huge hurricane threat for the entire east coast.(hurricane Irene) Daddy had to stay at home to work on the Naval Base while Mommy & Skylar decided to evacuate to TN. Better to be safe than sorry. Thankfully we had very little damage. The trip to TN was a long one since Sky asked about every 5 minutes if we were almost to Grandmas house. Once we were in TN Sky had a great time visiting w/ the family. She kept telling me she loved the pretty mountains & she loved feeding Grandma Frey's chickens.
