Eating real food

My Mommy spent a couple of days making me homeade food. Yum Yum! So far I've tried carrots, yellow squash, potatoes, apples & avacado...oh yeah & sweet potatoes, but I thought they were yucky!

Saturday in KS & MO

Today was such a beautiful July day. It was 70 degrees! What a nice change after all of the hot days we have been having. Larry & I have been eating healthy & working out hard all week, so today was a free fun day. Since the weather was nice we decided to take Skylar & Taz on a hike in MO. Little did we know it was a 3 mile hike with lots of hills...so much for a day off from exercise! The trail was deep in the woods but it was paved. We were at the last 1/4 mile when we saw a 2 ft snake in the middle of our path. He was laying so still that we thought he was dead. Larry tossed an empty water bottle at him & he didn't move. We decided to try to carefully walk around him. He slowly moved across the path & into the woods. When we got home we looked him up on google & he looked like the most common venomous snake in MO.. the copperhead! Glad we didn't make him mad. After we had a great dinner at home (thanks Lar) we went outside on our front porch & watched a beautiful 1/2 hour fireworks display to celebrate Amelia Earhart's birthday. Skylar loved the display & couldn't stop staring. At the loudest part, the finale, she fell asleep!

Daddy's little southern belle

Skylar got this adorable outfit from Uncle Roy & Aunt Claudia in TN.

Uh Oh

Skylar was jumping away in her jumparoo & then...uh oh! I noticed she pooped on the persian rug! You all know how Larry feels about this subject. I hope he doesn't make me get rid of the rug! Skylar doesn't care, she is just smiling away!

How cute

Our little girl is growing

Skylar went for her 6 month checkup yesterday & the Dr. said she looks great. She smiled at everyone! She weighed 18.9 lbs & was 26 1/2 inches long. No teeth yet but she is drooling like crazy! She has been on rice cereal for 3 weeks now & yesterday she tried carrots. She loved them. I'm so glad. She hasn't been sleeping through the night but last night she slept for 8 hours, woke up to eat & slept for 3 more!!! Yeah! now I can finally get some sleep. Larry bought her 5 boxes of flash cards yesterday & she has been playing the piano with him for weeks now. Today I made homeade baby food & froze individual portions. I made carrots & yellow squash. Tomorrow I am going to make applesauce, potatoes, papaya, green beens, peas & if I can find them...sweet potatoes. It's a lot easier to cook it all in one day & freeze it. I'm so glad the Dr. said she could start eating food since she has been staring & grabbing at our food for a couple weeks now.

Our road trip to Colorado

We left home on Sunday & headed to Colorado. It was a 9 hour trip to Denver on 1 road the entire time (through) Kansas. Corn fields & miles & miles of nothing. We actually went 3 1/2 hours without seeing a gas station! We stayed over night in Denver at a hotel with Larry's brother Bill. The next day we picked up Larry's Mom, his brother Pat, & his wife Kelly & drove 3 1/2 hours to Steamboat Springs. It was a beautiful drive. This place is awesome! There is so much to do & NO humidity. We are staying in a cool resort with 3 pools, hot tubs, game rooms, BBQ areas, etc. So far we drove out to look at the hot springs, & hiked to a waterfall. Today Larry surprised me. The family watched Skylar so Larry & I could do something on my bucket list...we went in a hot air balloon & it was so great!!!! As soon as we took off we saw a deer in a stream! We also saw a naked man on his balcony.Well gotta go have more fun but I will post pictures soon.
